Nakheel Properties was one of Dubai’s biggest real estate developers, famous for creating iconic projects like Palm Jumeirah. It was a part of Dubai World and played a major role in the city’s growth but also faced financial struggles during the 2009–2010 debt crisis. Despite this, it remained Dubai’s second-largest developer after Emaar Properties.
On March 16, 2024, Nakheel merged with Meydan and became part of Dubai Holding. This merger ended Nakheel’s independent operations and aimed to strengthen Dubai’s real estate sector under a single powerful entity.
